Microsoft Surveys Hispanic Holiday Habits

Microsoft has released a survey conducted by Ipsos that found Hispanics are "more concerened" than the general population about family home entertainment during the holidays.

The results, released Wednesday, said 89 percent of Hispanics want want a gift "that brings their family together," while 64 percent of the general popular said likewise.

95 percent of Hispanics were said to want gifts that can be enjoyed year-round, versus 85 percent.

The survey also found that 85 percent of Hispanics wanted affordable family entertainment over the holidays, compared to 81 percent of the general population.

83 percent of Hispanics polled also preferred to give one gift for their whole family as opposed to the 54 percent of the general population who would rather give individual gifts.

In addition, 49 percent of Hispanics said they will likely play videogames with family or friends during the holidays.

Microsoft has been urgently moving into the mass market phase of the Xbox 360 strategy by cutting hardware prices to the sub-$200 mark, introducing a more accessible avatar-focused Xbox Live and developing games such as Lips and You"re In the Movies that appeal to audiences beyond the core male gamer.
