After outselling PS3 during the month of September in Japan, Xbox 360 hardware has again edged out its high-def rival, according to Media Create.

But it"s the handhelds that have topped home consoles thanks to Japan"s commuter culture:

Microsoft said Thursday that it was raising Xbox 360 forecasts in Japan. John Schappert, Microsoft"s corporate VP of  online game services and game software stated during Tokyo Game Show, "We"ve done better than we forecast. We are finding that we have a shortage of hardware."
