Fracture
Day 1 Studios
PS3, 360
Release: 7 Oct (US)
10 Oct (
UK)
Edge knows what you’re thinking, and yes, though the imminent release of Fracture is as exciting as a graphical update to Red Faction, apparently Fracture’s story is centred around a global dispute on how to tackle climate change. And since the game has dreamt up a novel solution by adapting the human genome to cope with the changing world, this game goes straight to the Not-For-Palin pile.

NBA Live 09

Electronic Arts Canada
PS3, 360
Release: 7 Oct (US)
10 Oct (
UK)
Following the launch of its eminent football simulation, FIFA 09, EA Sports follows up with the release of its prevalent NBA game. Challenge everything, as they say.

NBA 2K9

Visual Concepts
PS3, 360
Release: 7 Oct (US)
10 Oct (
UK)
The simultaneous release date was not an accident, no, 2K Sports is releasing its star basketball series against EA’s to crown an undisputed champion of basketball sims once-and-for-all. Which means for twelve months they’ll both sell very well.

Guilty Gear 2: Overture

Arc System Works
360
Release: 7 Oct (US)
TBA (
UK)
The endearingly eccentric Guilty Gear franchise has taken a step out of its comfort zone with Overture, a game which designer Daisuke Ishiwatari explains has created a completely new genre. Think of Devil May Cry with RTS elements, if only to momentarily stop fantasising over Street Fighter 4.

Line Rider 2: Unbound

inXile Entertainment
Wii
Release: 7 Oct (US)
TBA (UK)

Conceived by a Slovenian university student and subsequently exploding into an internet phenomenon, Line Rider has finally validated itself as a proper game franchise by landing on the Wii and asking you to pay. Expect to draw the most exhilarating lines ever with Nintendo"s mouse-like interface.
