203K Flock to Leipzig GC
The 2008 Leipzig Games Convention ended on Sunday after a record-breaking 203,000 visitors attended the show, according to GC creators Leipziger Messe.
The high attendance numbers and strong believe from visitors that GC should stay in Leipzig has ensured the show will be back in 2009. Polls taken by Leipziger Messe at the show indicate that 82.1% of private visitors at the show wanted the show to remain in the city, while only 10% of exhibitors and 13.2% of trade attendees said they didn’t want the show to continue in Leipzig.
“The industry and visitors are giving us their clear support to continue with the fair in Leipzig,” said Leipziger Messe CEO Wolfgang Marzin.
Of the 203,000 in attendance, 14,600 were members of the industry while 3,800 were journalists reporting on the show. 2007’s GC attracted 185,000 attendees, 12,300 trade visitors and 3,395 journalists.
GC 2009 will start on August 19th and end August 23rd.
