A Thai distributor has pulled copies of Grand Theft Auto IV after a teen said the game inspired him to commit a murder/robbery.

"We are sending out requests today to outlets and shops to pull the games off their shelves and we will replace them with other games," Sakchai Chotikachinda of New Era Interactive Media told Reuters.

An 18-year-old high schooler stands accused of the crime and faces the death penalty for robbing and stabbing to death a 54-year-old taxi driver.

"He said he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game," said a Thai chief police investigator.

The suspect also told police that he didn"t intend to kill the driver until the victim tried to fight back.
