New 360 Price Cut in September?

Microsoft will be cutting the price of its Xbox 360 hardware lineup in early September, new reports claim.

Citing an unnamed "mole," tech site Ars Technica said in about a month, retailers will begin selling the hard drive-less Xbox 360 Arcade for Kris Graft99 (down from $279), the 60GB Xbox 360 Pro for $299 (from $349) and the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite for $399 (from $449).

The report gained more credence over the weekend when a tipster sent sales tracking site VGChartz alleged photo evidence of a sales cut.

The picture shows what is presumably a screen from a sales terminal, which displays an SKU inquiry for an Xbox 360 Arcade with a price of Kris Graft99 beginning September 7.

The timing of the rumored price cut would come just after Microsoft reduced the price of the 20GB Xbox 360 pro to $299 in July in order to clear out remaining stock.

Asked about the price cut rumors, Microsoft told Edge that it "does not comment on rumors and speculation."
