Finally, Some Good News for Infogrames

Lyon, France-based Atari parent Infogrames said Thursday that Alone in the Dark and Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit drove a sales increase of 80 percent to €90.1 million (Kris Graft40.4 million) for the first quarter ended in June.

The firm, which is in the midst of restructuring, said that its turnaround initiatives are demonstrating "positive momentum."

Day one shipments of Alone in the Dark and Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit (both for PS3 and Xbox 360) were 1.2 million and 930,000 units, respectively.

Infogrames CEO David Gardner stated, “I am pleased with our Q1 sales which have been driven by having two hit products, Alone in the Dark and Dragon Ball Z. It sets the pace for the rest of the year and gives us the time to begin our publishing turnaround as the next key step to revitalizing the brand and company.

He added that he is "particularly pleased with the trajectory of our U.S. business."

In the U.S., Infogrames" Q1 revenues more than tripled year-on-year, reaching €25.0 million. The region accounted for 28 percent of Infogrames" revenues, up from 16 percent a year ago.

European revenues reached €51.3 million, while Asian revenues hit €13.8 million.

During the quarter, Xbox 360 and PS3 revenues made up 62 percent of sales.

Infogrames expects a 12 to 18 percent revenue increase for the fiscal year.
