Square Enix generated lower sales and higher net income for its April-June quarter, the Final Fantasy house said Thursday.

Net sales for the first quarter were 29.8 billion yen ($275.7 million), down from 33.7 billion yen for the same quarter a year ago.

Net income was up to 2.9 billion yen from 2.7 billion yen.

Japan continues to be Tokyo-based Square Enix"s primary market by a large margin. The region generated nearly 26 billion yen of the company"s total sales, while North America and Europe generated around 2.5 billion yen each.

Square, however, announced at E3 this month that it would be bringing Final Fantasy XIII to the Western-centric Xbox 360.
