MTV Games has announced that the Rock Band Live tour will travel across America in the fall, bringing with it head-to-head competitions that will let Rock Band players compete for a chance to play on the main stage.

The tour will feature the bands Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional. Winners in the player contest will get to play the game on stage between the sets of the booked acts. Other guests include the Plain White T’s and The Cab.

According to the statement, all the acts that are touring with Rock Band Live will be featured in downloadable content packs for the game. The tour will start on October 5th in San Diego and end November 14th in Houston.

MTV senior vice president of games and music Paul DeGooyer said of the concert and promotion, “The bands are fantastic, the timing dovetails perfectly with the release of Rock Band 2, and the events will be tons of interactive fun for families.”

Dashboard Confessional lead singer Chris Carrabba added, “I"m practicing my Rock Band drumming. With any luck I"ll win a spot on stage to show what I can REALLY do."
