Despite the June 12 release of PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4, which initially resulted in a dramatic rise in sales of the Sony system, Nintendo’s Wii outsold its closest home console rival for the seventh month running in Japan, according to newly released figures from Famitsu publisher Enterbrain.

Reuters reports that Nintendo sold 235,990 Wii units during the five weeks ended June 29, while PS3 sales totaled 139,494 units.
