GameTap boss Ricardo Sanchez said in a post on GameTap"s official forums, "While we have been very happy with the work done by our editorial and video teams, we’ve made a decision to focus the business on our biggest strength, which is our game catalog. As a result, we will be restructuring the site to focus exclusively on gameplay."He added that instead of having separate sections for game reviews, news and videos, any remaining content would be displayed directly on games" pages on GameTap.com.
Wired"s Game|Life blog is also reporting that editorial staff will be cut by the middle of June. When contacted by Next-Gen, Sanchez simply restated his forum announcement.
GameTap"s editorial team is made up of several proven games journalists, including former GameSpot news man Curt Feldman and IGN"s Doug Perry, among other well-known media types.
The restructuring will not affect GameTap"s core games-on-demand service.
