Is This the Worst PlayStation Ad Ever? (NSFW)
Sony’s PlayStation 3 marketing has misfired (badly) in the past, but the print advertisement below transcends all bounds of sense and decency. Not only is it immediately off-putting, it adds multiple, interacting levels of shame to PS3 ownership.
So it’s almost undoubtedly the worst PlayStation ad ever, or at least it would be if Sony ever approved it. The company has stated for the record that this isn’t an official ad for anything, leaving the blame solely with the alleged creators, the Wien, Vienna branch of New York-based advertising firm TBWA.
TBWA had a thirteen-year relationship with SCEA and was responsible for a great deal of PlayStation marketing (including the terrifying video linked above) throughout the history of the brand. SCEA ended that relationship in December of last year, though it is believed that this did not change SCEE’s ongoing relationship with the advertising company.
