“I just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that a PS3 firmware update (v2.35) will be released shortly,” wrote Eric Lempel, PlayStation network director of operations, in a blog post.

“This is a relatively minor update to improve stability of some PS3 titles,” he added.

So, once again nothing about the highly demanded in-game integration of the PS3"s Cross Media Bar (XMB), which would allow PS3 owners, like those who play their games online on Xbox 360, to call up a list of their friends, voice or text message them, see what they"re playing and send invites to matches while gaming.

Still, perhaps there’s not too long to wait – SCE UK boss Ray Maguire did say back in March that firmware version 2.4 will introduce “in-game communication in the summer”.
