Into the Pixel Calls for Game Art

If you"ve ever been to one of the game industry"s many events such as DICE, E3 or GDC, chances are you"ve come across Into the Pixel. On Tuesday, organizers for the art exhibit that features work from videogames said they are now accepting submissions.Artists must submit their work for the 2008 exhibit by May 21. Work from this year"s Into the Pixel will debut to the games industry at the E3 Media & Business Summit, July 15-18 and to the general public at the E for All Expo October 3-5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Sixteen pieces will be selected for the traveling art show. Submissions must be from published or "soon-to-be published" computer and videogames, or art that was used to help create those games. Artists can submit up to three original pieces.
The jury for the exhibit is made up of art experts from both inside and outside of the games industry:
- Louis Marchesano, Curator of Collections, Prints & Drawings, Getty Research Institute
- Kevin Salatino, Curator of Prints & Drawings, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
- Daniel Dociu, Chief Art Director, NCsoft North America
- Richard Duardo, Managing Director and Master Printer, Modern Multiples Fine Art Studio
- Tracy Fullerton, Assistant Professor, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and Co-Director, Interactive Media Division/Electronic Arts Game Innovation Lab
- Lorne Lanning, Co-Founder and President, Oddworld Inhabitants
- Glenn Phillips, Consulting Curator, Getty Research Institute
- Kiki Wolfkill, Executive Producer, Microsoft Game Studios
